be extra careful. watch for police activity. at security boulevard, there is a downed tree. it could be blocking some lanes. on the ramp to 95, there is a truck fire. that will cause some problems for motorists. highland avenue at eastern avenue, there is an accident clearing. so far so good on the entire beltway with the exception of those inner loop problems. the outer loop looks good. here's a look at the topside. so far so good on the north east corner of the beltway. it looks like we have an incident on 395. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> the police commissioner is expected to sit down with commanders to talk about the violent weekend. >> more than a dozen people were

shot. kim dacey joins us with more details. >> overall there were 10 shootings total from friday night until sunday night. in increase in police officers could not stop the violence. more than a dozen people shot in baltimore. >> caught in the crossfire. >> the police commissioner ordered all commanders to work night shifts through monday morning. by sunrise sunday, four more people were shot, another dead. >> do you think it matters? >> no. i mean, they just can bring all the police they want. you know, you have to do with more than the weekend. it is every day. the problem will not stop. >> sunday evening, a police-

involved shooting. three suspects drove off. they pointed a gun at an officer and took off on foot. >> one officer saw the suspects running. gave verbal commands to stop. they did not stop. the officer opened fire and struck a suspect in the late. >> one suspect remains at large. the key is getting those guns off the streets. the police commissioner does have a meeting set up this morning with all of those district comanche's to discuss this violence and where to go from here. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> funeral arrangements are set for the maryland man killed in the plane crash in alaska last week. this was the same crash that killed senator ted stevens.

a funeral mass is set for potomac. he served on the senator's staff. his son survived the crash and has since been released from a hospital. the cause of the crash has not been determined. >> the white house has set a date for troops to be pulled out of afghanistan. general patras said troop withdrawal is their process that is conditioned-based. >> -- general petraeus. >> various governmental institutions and that enables a responsible drawdown of our forces. >> the last u.s. combat brigade will soon be back on american soil. they spent a year in the iraqi capital. all but 50,000 troops should be out of iraq by the end of

august. hundreds gathered in a church to remember the man, one of 10 aid workers that was gunned down by the taliban. his older brother called him a humanitarian. >> as brothers, he was so kind, always there for my brother and i, our family, my parents. anybody else. he came in contact. >> he received a nursing degree and also volunteered to help victims of hurricanes katrina and rita. >> news statements in the lockerbie bombing. one doctor who contributed to his release was not a cancer specialist. the specialists caring for him were not consulted at all. he was released nearly a year

no one knows as far as the catch. >> fears over the safety of the seafood has filtered down. they have not figured out how they will handle the catch. engineers continue pressure tests, trying to figure out if the bottom kill could further damage the well. the effort to seal the well will likely have to wait for a least another week. >> all children ages 1 through 4 should all have swimming lessons. this will reinforce -- some pediatricians are prescribing swimming lessons for their young patients. teaching young children to swim should be a must. that brings us to our water cooler question of the day.

75 at the top of the hour at the maryland science center it is a warm start, but it should be dry to start out. after 11:00 a.m., there is a chance for scattered thunderstorms to develop. some could be strong or severe. it could be war with a high temperature near 90. we will check the seven-day forecast coming up in just a few minutes. -- it could be warmer with a high temperature near 90. for now, over to the news desk. >> childhood obesity rates have fallen for some kids but not for all. 8 million children have their records reviewed. it started to decline for most boys and white girls. the prevalence of obesity continued to climb for african americans.

it is kind of busy up there. southbound 95, this is a live view. it is off to the side. but folks are tapping the breaks approaching that scene. be careful. this is the north side and harford road. moving smoothly so far. no problems on 95 coming out of the northeast. let's switch over and show you some other problem spots. we have a downed tree and it may be partially blocking the right lane. we will keep you posted. inner loop ramp shows a truck fire on the west side. watch for a truck fire and also we will be searching for this accident on 32. this isn't westminster. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. now we check in for a look at the buses and trains -- this is in westminster.

morning. you can see the first hints of that happening in western pennsylvania. there is a cold front from the ohio valley. this will be the trigger mechanism. out of these storms, some will be strong or severe. not everyone will see that kind of weather. we do have the chance for some severe weather later today. traveling down in the gulf, an area of low pressure is developing and it is the remnants of what was a tropical depression number 5. it could develop into a tropical storm. if it does, its name would be danielle. partly cloudy skies today. a chance for thunderstorms. some will be strong. a high temperature near 90. overnight tonight, partly cloudy skies. low temperatures down around 70.
